NORAC's AGM is fast approaching on 20 October.

Hello everyone,

AGM Agenda

As you know, our AGM is a little over a week away.  It will be held at the Venture Training building (4706 23rd Street) and will start at 7pm on Tuesday October 20th.

Here is the draft agenda:
  1. Vote to accept the agenda for the meeting
  2. Vote to accept the minutes of the last AGM (Oct 21, 2025) - as linked here.
  3. Treasurer's Report
    1. Vote to accept the Treasurer's Report
    2. Vote on the motion "Notwithstanding the provisions of Paragraph 8.1 of the NORAC By-laws, at the Annual General Meeting, the membership may, by a majority of the votes cast, waive the appointment of an auditor for the ensuing year."  (This is something we have to do every year to satisfy the BC Societies Act.)
    3. Vote to accept the planning budget for the 2027 year. (We did this last year; it's a planning document/guideline).
  4. Education Report
  5. Technical Committee Report
  6. Emergency Communications Cmte Report - none as the cmte is vacant
  7. President's Report on the recent year
  8. Social Media Report
  9. Election of the NORAC Executive for the upcoming year
  10. Motion to Adjourn the AGM

Regarding the NORAC Executive

Just to keep everyone in the loop, here is the status on the executive positions going in to 2027:
  • Howard VA7PWF is retiring as President (and will become Past-President for a year).
  • Felix VA7VOL is putting himself forward for presedent - which leave the Vice President's role vacant
  • Doug VA7CPS is staying on as Treasurer
  • Richard VE7NT is staying on as Secretary
  • John VE7JWS is stepping down as Director, leaving the position vacant
So that means we have two vacancies we need to fill: Vice President, and Director.  Here are the basic responsibilities that come with the roles:
  • attend the club regular and executive meetings.  For the regular meetings, in-person is pretty much a requirement for the VP, and it's best if the Director does too, though Zoom is an option.  Executive meetings are usually on Zoom, but sometimes in the pub as the SWR is better there.
  • take on, or otherwise help out with, any of the minor or ongoing club projects where possible.  There are a number of small tasks that just need someone to take the lead on.
  • the VP has to be willing & able to chair club meetings in the event that the President is out of town, ill, has been abducted by aliens, or is otherwise unavailable.
  • no radio skills required (ask me how I know :) )!

Honestly, it's a lot of fun, and none of it is hard work.  It just takes a little time and coordination with the rest of the exec.

If anyone is interested in either position or would like to learn more about what's required, please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..

The meeting location will be at the Venture Training location as usual, 4607 23 Street.
