Field Day 2013 is coming and we want to hear your ideas for participating.
The NORAC Executive would like to have a Field Day event this year, we have some ideas and we need your feedback.
First, mark the weekend of June 22nd and 23rd on your calendar.
Second, take a couple of minutes right now and send a message off to our NORAC President and VP. Email with your vote or suggestions.
Here are a few of the options that we have been discussing already
- A full participation, out in the public eye, 24 hour Field Day event (YIPEE!). With at least one (or more) club stations being operated for the entire Field Day contest. A suggested location for great exposure are places like the Safeway or Wal-Mart parking lots? Club members would be camping onsite, cookout style food, demos of Amatuer Radio, and NORAC operaters working the contest from start to finish. We need campers, volunteers, and people willing to take a shift on the radios throughout the entire 24 hours.
- Or how about a half participtation contest event? It might be just like the one described above, but we would limit ourselves to a dawn to dusk timeframe?. This would take less people participating, and no one would have to man the graveyard shift on the contest. It's not our best effort, but it's easier on people who can't or don't want to camp. Some people still might choose to camp if they are involved in setup or teardown?
- A no contest public demo day? We skip the contest but do all the rest. We setup and operate our portable stations, we demo amatuer radio for anyone intested. We still try to schedule a full day (dawn to dusk) of activities, food and fun. But we skip the Field Day contest aspect?
- Do you have another idea? Please click on our email link and let us know.
The one thing we know right now is that we need to start planning if we're gonna do this.
We need your ideas now.
We need some leaders willing to pull others together and do a little planning. No one person needs to do a ton of work, but we need a few people willing to do a little.
Please take a couple minutes right now and send a message off to Bob and Aaren. Email us your idea or vote on the suggestions listed above.
