Hi NORAC members and friends,

I am planning to activate VE-0728 Kalamalka Lake Provincial Park this Saturday with Parks On The Air.

I'm leaning towards heading over to Rattlesnake point as David VA7SZ informs me that it is likely free of high-voltage power line noise.

I will be bringing my Yaesu FT-891 powered by my new DIY LiFePO4 pack. The plan is to run my Wolf River Coils TIA vertical antenna potentially at up to a full 100 watts of power for SSB phone on 20m and maybe 40m or 80m.

Will look for a clear calling frequency and then update https://stats.parksontheair.com/spotting/ with details.

The plan is to log on my Android phone using HAMlog.

I plan to work under my own callsign, unless there is a lot of interest of folks wanting to operate and then we could use the club call sign instead. David VA7SZ has committed to join me in the field for a bit.

If interested, meet up at the NORAC Saturday morning breakfast a little earlier at 9:30 AM at Hot Spot on 6. We can get a quick breakfast and then head out from there.

I've set the start time for the activation as 12 noon in the published scheduled activations so it would be nice to be out in the park and setup on time. We'll likely have to leave breakfast by 10:30 am to be on the air in time. The weather report does suggest that sun is in the forecast for Saturday.

Dress very warmly and bring a lawn chair if you will join us.

Hope you can come play radio,
Mike VE7KPZ
